Welcome to Hanna City Presbyterian Church! A church committed to
glorifying God by making, maturing, and mobilizing disciples to proclaim the
Gospel of Jesus Christ in Hanna City, in our nation, and the world.
A Message From the Pastor
Welcome!
As a church that has ministered in this part of Illinois for more than 150
years, we have been richly blessed by the foundations laid by the generations
who have gone before. This church has been and will, by God’s grace and
strength, continue to be committed to the faithful teaching and preaching of the
Word of God in our place and time. As a congregation of the Presbyterian Church
in America (www.pcanet.org) we hold to the Westminster Confession of Faith,
along with the Larger and Shorter Catechisms as an excellent summary of the
teachings of the Scriptures.
As we seek to build upon the foundation of God’s Word we are equally committed
to assessing and re-assessing how we can more effectively minister in our place
and time: to family, friends and neighbors in the community where we work and
live. There is no such thing as a holding pattern in our culture today. We are
either advancing the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ in our personal lives and
families and church or we are being taken along by the currents and priorities
of this present age. Moving forward requires that we intentionally seek His
kingdom purposes in all things. To drift away from His purposes for this church
is to lose our children and the future generations of this church to the winds
of time.
To that end, our every endeavor as a church will seek to advance our mission: to
glorify God by making, maturing, and mobilizing disciples to proclaim the Gospel
of Jesus Christ in Hanna City, our nation, and the world. Let me encourage you
to consider joining us in this journey. We do not know where the road may lead,
but we will step forward confident of this very thing, “that He who began a good
work in us will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus” (Phil 1:6).
